Scarlet Paolicchi Brings 'Family' Into Focus

Sometimes you come across blogs that are true cornucopias of valuable information, tips and advice.  Family Focus Blog is exactly that -- a hodge-podge of helpful hints and discussion that span the critical elements of our lives as parents and women.

No doubt, what mom blogger Scarlet Paolicchi was going for in the launching of her blog six years ago, she has accomplished masterfully.  Family Focus Blog feels like a country kitchen table with two comfy chairs and a steaming hot pot of organic mint tea, just waiting for decorative tea cups and old friends to complete the scenario.

Whether concerned over the impact of today’s world on our children or trying to figure out the right approach to take to purchase a used car for the family, Family Focus Blog endeavors to steer you in the right direction.  Practical, useful, creative and downright entertaining, it’s the “home away from home” that you never expected but are enormously grateful you found...especially when all but lost for a Pear Honey Margarita.

Like I said, this award-winning blog has everything.  See for yourself in Scarlet Paolicchi’s interview below.

What is your full name?

Scarlet Paolicchi

Where do you live?

Nashville, TN

How many children do you have?

I have two children -- one boy and one girl.

If you were asked to describe yourself in one word, what would that word be?

Wow, one word?  Scarlet.

What is your personal mantra?

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Do you believe you have a “life’s purpose?” If so, share it.

I don't know.  I suppose it would be” to be the best I can be.”  My grandmother always said, “Just do the best you can.”  And that is exactly what I do!  I try to have fun, help others when I can, and be the best version of me that I can be.

Tell us about you and your life.

I was born in New Hampshire and I have lived all over -- from California to Louisiana.  I met my husband freshman year of college and after some twists and turns, we ended up married with two wonderful children living in Nashville, Tennessee. We love it here. We enjoy a healthy lifestyle, good food, and family time.  We love to travel and we enjoy seeing and doing new things. I am passionate about making ‘green choices’ and taking care of this beautiful earth we live on.

Finish this sentence, “The best part about being a mom is _____.”

How happy they make me feel just by looking at them!

How long have you been blogging for?  Do you blog for any group blogs or websites beyond your own?

I have been blogging for six years.  I do blog for SC Johnson's Green Choices Blog and I also blog for Tom's of Maine.  I contribute a guest post to other sites every now and then.

What is the name of your blog?  When was it launched?

Family Focus Blog.  I launched it in January of 2010.

Share with us the significance of the name of your blog to you. How did you come up with it?

I wanted to be clear with my readers as to what they could expect out of my blog.  I wanted them to know that they would find “all things” related to families and that it was meant to be a family resource.

What is the primary focus of your blog?

Parenting, Recipes, Crafts, Travel, Home Decor.

What do you hope to accomplish through it?

I hope to be that mom that you can relate to.  When I had my first  baby I was the first in my group of friends to have a baby and I didn't really have a support system of ladies to say, “I know what you mean. I have been there too.” I found it online and brought it into the real world too but I made my initial connections online.

List any awards you have won.

I won the 2011 StartupNation Savviest in Social Media Award.  Family Focus Blog was chosen by Circle of Moms as a 2012 Most Influential Family Blog. Family Focus Blog was also voted into the Circle of Moms Top 25 Home Design Moms – 2013. Family Focus Blog was named #3 on Cisions’s 2014 Top 50 U.S. Mom Bloggers List. Family Focus Blog was named one of The Best Mom Blogs of The Year by Healthline and one of Top 50 Parenting Bloggers of 2015 by the Famous Parenting.

Are you a Brand Ambassador and if so, for which companies?

Tom's of Maine, and let me just say that they have the most inspiring commitment to doing good for both the environment and to philanthropic causes.

Beyond your blog, do you engage in other social media outlets such as Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, etc.?

Yes, I live on them!  Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Stumbleupon.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to moms who may be interested in beginning a blog?

If you love it, do it. It will be a lot of work so you are going to have to love it and then it will be worth it!

Are you an entrepreneur or professional beyond your blog (and outside of being a mom)? Please share.

Nope!  I was a biology major who ended up working in retail management, which I loved, but those hours did not work with being the mom I wanted to be, so I quit and became a stay at home and work at home mom.

Do you support – either formally or informally – a particular social cause?

I guess, not formally, but 'ending child hunger' is a cause that I get behind as well as protecting our environment.

When all is said and done, what is the one thing you hope your loved ones and those who knew you remember about you?

I hope they remember me someone who cared and as someone who always gave a 100%.
