"Take 6" Will Make You Believe In A Cappella, Gospel, And Miracles
"the baddest vocal cats on the planet” - Quincy Jones
Quincy Jones mighta said it but Take 6 made me a true believer and a fan through their newest album "BELIEVE". Once I heard it, I couldn't stop replaying it, especially the song "Five Minutes With God". That song launched a series of thoughts in my head as to what I would actually do or ask God given he did give me five minutes of face-time. I, probably, would have opened with "Why did it take so long to introduce me to this group's music?"
Frankly, it is a soulful experience to have the opportunity to listen to the smooth vocals, poignant lyrics, and uplifting sound that make up Take 6 and Believe, with the added treasure of a performance by Stevie Wonder and the penned title song by multi Grammy-winning, Oscar nominated writer Diane Warren.
With an array of awards of their own - including ten Grammy’s, ten Dove Awards (Gospel Music Awards), Best Jazz Vocal Group honors for seven consecutive years in Downbeat’s prestigious Reader’s and Critic’s Poll, a Soul Train Music Award, BRE (Black Radio Exclusive) Vocal Group of the Year, two NAACP Image Award nominations, induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and countless other musical and humanitarian citations - there is no doubt in my mind that the best is yet to come from Take 6.
Their sound is a blessing for anyone to revel in, whatever your religious affiliation or belief might be!
